A Return to Worship June 14th

May 27, 2020 By David Hiatt

Good afternoon Park Street,

As the world around us begins to open back up, I wanted to inform you of our current plans moving forward. As of today, we are planning a return to in-person worship on Sunday, June 14th. On that day we will hold one outdoor worship service at 8:30 am. We are working on a way to continue the live stream for those of us who would continue to prefer that option.

We are asking everyone to bring their own chair or blankets to sit on. We will have masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer available, however, due to the limited supply, we strongly encourage everyone to provide their own.

We ask that you refrain from physical contact with one another such as hugs, shaking hands, etc., and that families and individuals please sit 6 feet apart from one another. We will be collecting offerings at one central location, however, we strongly encourage you to continue to use the online giving option on our website instead.

We will be incorporating a special children’s lesson into the order of worship in place of nursery and Kid’s Zone. We will also be distributing video links, activities, crafts, and supplies to every family in the near future to allow them to have their own Kid’s Zone lessons and crafts at home.

While evaluation of the situation will be ongoing, we foresee this format lasting for much, if not all, of the summer. In the event of rain, in-person worship will be canceled and we ask that everyone worship with us via the live stream online.

The decision to return to in-person worship is not one that we as a church have taken lightly. I want to thank the staff and church leadership of Park Street for their tireless efforts in constructing a plan that we believe allows us to return to in-person worship safely.

However, I also want to make clear that just because in-person worship is returning, that doesn’t mean you are expected to be in attendance. If you are nervous, concerned, at-risk, or in a vulnerable population then please give this decision serious thought. In fact, I encourage each and every family to have an honest and prayerful conversation around this topic and what you are or are not comfortable with.

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me directly. I have missed you all tremendously, but I have found comfort in knowing that just because we have been socially distanced, our mission has not. Our church is more active now than ever, and I look forward to our continued work.

Blessings,

Pastor David

The Pumpkins Are Coming

October 3, 2019 By David Hiatt

It’s that time of year again. The pumpkins are on the way. Come join us on Saturday, October 5th as we unload the truck. The United Methodist Men will be serving breakfast at 8:30 am and we will begin unloading at 9:00 am. Bring some gloves and a wheelbarrow if you have it, and don’t forget to sign-up to work the patch in the coming weeks. See you on Saturday!

Some News About What Is To Come

February 5, 2016 By David Hiatt

I just wanted to take a minute to let you know what will be coming up over the next few weeks in worship.

This Sunday we will be continuing our sermon series on money and possessions entitled “Not Your Everyday Series About Money.” This week I will be offering up some investment advice that you do not want to miss. We will also be joined by the Boy Scouts in our 11am service as we celebrate them and their work in our community.

On Wednesday, February 10th at 7:00pm, we will be gathering together to celebrate Ash Wednesday. I invite you all to come out to this service as we prepare our hearts for the upcoming Lenten season.

And with the Lenten season will come a new sermon series that begins on February 14th called “Journey to the Cross:  A Look at Jesus’ Final Week.” With this series we will follow the final week of Jesus’ life day by day. We will begin on the 14th with the entry into Jerusalem. In order to capture the progression of this movement from Sunday to Friday to Easter, we will actually celebrate Palm Sunday and the Triumphal Entry on February 14th. (Just a head’s up so you aren’t taking off guard.)

I am really looking forward to this series and what I think will be a very informative and moving look at Christ’s last days.

Denver area United Methodist churches have challenged Charlotte area United Methodist churches to a food drive between now and Super Bowl Sunday. All items donated through Park Street will go to the food bank at the BCO. The BCO is currently in need of grits, oatmeal, jelly, and mac & cheese. Please drop off your items at the church anytime between now and Sunday February 7th so that we can take a count and turn in our results. The food will be delivered after our final count.

This Sunday at Park Street

December 17, 2015 By David Hiatt

I wanted to take a moment to invite everyone to both the 9am and 11am worship services this coming Sunday.

In the 9am service we will be continuing with our Advent series entitled:  Who? When? Where? What? Why? We will be taking a look at the question of What?

In the 11am service our Chancel Choir will be performing their Christmas Cantata. I know that it will be a great service of worship and praise as we continue to wait for the coming of the Christ.

I hope to see you Sunday at both 9am and 11am for this wonderful day of worship.

Blessings,

Pastor David
